KW Dynamic Damping Control

With more and more cars being released with a form of dampening adjustment from within the cabin, such as the EDC on BMW’s and PASM on Porsche, it is about time someone came up with an off the shelf solution that will link directly into the OEM system. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work on all cars. KW has developed the KW DDC with electronic damping control for the following cars: VW Golf MK VI, VW Passat 3C, and the Scirocco (which we don’t even get here in the USA).

Volk Racing VR. G12 for Porsche

With Porsche moving to center lock for the ultra high performance cars, it comes as a mix blessing for tuners as this kind of system seems to have “weeded” out the bad wheels from the good (at least to some degree) but also limited choices. Used to be that any wheel company making 3pc wheels in the US could build wheels for such cars as the GT3 or the Turbo. With some great lighting and even better photography, they even made it look good.

The trick is really to build something that adds positive value to the car. That includes performance and looks. I don’t like the idea of one without the other and unless you drive your car really fast all the time and on the track and it’s visible only to a handful of car junkies for 10 weekends a year, I am quite sure that you’d like it to look good as well.

Volk Racing VR G12 brings tons of positive value. Built by Rays Engineering of Japan, the technology and research and development is not just a marketing punch line. Rays Engineering builds wheels that has graced the tarmac of the F1 circuit through the (now no-more) BMW Sauber F1 cars and endured the torture of the LeMans on the heels of the RLL BMW GT cars. Rays Engineering is also the wheel of choice for the Porsche Motorsport 911 GT3 R.

Volk Racing has not always been synonymous with Porsche or much of the European Marques. Over the past decade, Volk Racing has slowly been developing and designing wheels for the European cars. The efforts have been very successful. Within the 2012 line up, you can find multiple wheels specific to Porsche; Volk TE37 (TUV approved), Volk TE37 Super Lap, and of course the VR. G12 in both the regular lug bolt set up as well as the Center Lock variation.

ADVAN Racing Introduces NEW Designs for 2012: GT and RS II

ADVANRacing is well known amongst  the BMW community for such offerings as the ADVAN Racing RS, RZ, RZ-DF and of course the TC III.  As they have every year, Yokohama Wheel Original Design released 2 new designs for 2012.  The first is the ADVAN Racing RS II and the other is the new Form Forged GT.

ADVAN Racing GT

ADVAN Racing GT is an technology milestone for ADVAN Racing. This is only the second wheel from the ADVAN Racing line to be built using the latest forging technology. (the first was the RZ-DF).  The success of the TC III’s 5-spoke design in offering a strong and versatile solution for the massive brakes of current has been infused with the forging technology used on the RZ-DF to produce a strong lightweight wheel with multiple rim depths. The result is the ADVAN Racing GT.

This is also the first model to come with the all new finish; Semi Gloss Black and the Racing White. The initial introduction is based on 20″ models and 19″ models are to follow.  This is in line with the need for 20″ wheels on such new performance cars as the GT-R and the F10 M5.

ADVAN Racing RS II

The Advan Racing RS was originally introduced in 2005 and quickly became the wheel of choice for many that needed the lightweight performance. back in 2005, the GTR spokes of the RS was unheard of in the world of cast wheels. 2007 was the year they gained world wide recoginition as the supplier of wheels to the Italian PRO Team in the much demanding WTCC.

2012, ADVAN Racing redesigned this highly successful wheel. Why touch on perfection? Well, to improve on it.  Such were the demands of the WTCC cars and the result is the RS II.  The RS II shares the same overall design and feel of the RS butwith more material removed strategically, from the side of the spokes to reduce weight while addiing to the rigidity inan I-Beam like formation.

The RS II also shares the all new Semi Gloss black and the famous 5-coat Racing Hyper colors.  ADVAN Racing also improved on the availability of sizes, compared to the RS.
