What is Hooning?

“Hooning”, “To Hoon” is a word that i have seen and heard quite a lot of recently.

I had to find out the exact meaning of this word and whereas would I turn to but Google.

Here is an excerpt from Jalopnik:

References say that Hoon stood for “man living off immoral earnings (i.e. a pimp)” at the turn of the 20th century. The term has evolved to encompass drivers of either sex “who drives any vehicle dangerously and/or fast.” The term hoon is typically only used in Australia or New Zealand, but we’re doing our damnedest to bring it front and center into the vocab of American gearheads everwhere.

also a shirt had the best definition by far.

I am a big fan of RWB cars and the livery has always been more than exciting. This one is no exception.  On the RWB Facebook, there was  a lot of reference to McDonalds. 🙂  I am not a personal fan but I admire the owners flair for a bold statement.

I never imagined that Subaru could take what they have on the dirt onto the Tarmac.

Lexus LF-LC Concept Car to debut at 2012 Detroit Auto Show

Lexus Concept Cars: 2012 Detroit Auto Show Concept Vehicles.

Lexus LF-LC Concept Car

This could be interesting. Having lived in Michigan, and having taken pride in the Detroit Auto Show of the PAST, I am glad that there is something to look forward to at the 2012 Detroit Auto show.  I hope that there is more from the local breed of GM, Ford and Chrysler.

TORRANCE, Calif., Dec. 21, 2011 – Taking the new Lexus design direction one step further, the LF-LC 2+2 sport coupe will be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit at 1:25 p.m. Eastern time on January 9, 2012.

“Crafted from a clean sheet of paper at the request of Lexus headquarters in Japan, the LF-LC blends both high technology and organic shapes to connect the driver to the machine,” said Mark Templin, Lexus group vice president and general manager. “The clean lines of the vehicle emphasize motion, creating a distinctive look for this futuristic sport coupe.”

Conceived as a design exercise to explore the future of Lexus design, the LF-LC was created at the company’s Calty design studio in Newport Beach, Calif.

Hennessey does it again with the SRT8

Hennessey Performance reveals its 800bhp Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8

Historian John Dalberg’s oft-quoted dictum that “power tends to corrupt, absolute power corrupts absolutely” can be sprinkled liberally across the automotive spectrum. Anyone familiar with an early Saab 900 Turbo (RIP) will attest to this. Here though, it takes on a grisly significance. This is the Hennessey HPE800 Twin Turbo Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.

That 800 in the moniker stands, naturally, for how many horses have been strapped under the Santa-spec red bonnet. 805bhp, to be precise, that ride shotgun with 823 torques to give a 0-60mph time of 3.1 seconds. That’s fractionally, fractionally faster than a Ferrari 458 Italia. Mr Hennessey tells us it’ll do the standing quarter mile in 10.9 seconds, travelling at 130mph.

That massive 6.4-litre V8 gets rebigulated to 7 litres, treated to two turbos and mated to an upgraded transmission and torque converter. It also gets…
